Brotherhood was founded and is facilitated by Joe Summerfield. Joe has been working with young people since 2001.
“I love working with and supporting young people on their journey. I have a great deal of empathy for what they face – it’s a challenging and vulnerable time: changing, exploring, and discovering oneself… all while navigating the choppy social terrain as peers do the same. I feel very honoured to have been here to listen to and support many young people.
My work and interest is not restricted in any way by gender but I do see and have felt some very specific challenges that males face, for which there is very little support – or willingness to seek support. And I know that offering this support to males would have a positive impact on the experience of females also. This is why I created Brotherhood. To work specifically with young men on unraveling that which binds us, clearing the way for new connections and ways of being. I consider myself every bit as much on this journey as anybody who joins me.
Some facts about me…
I live in Hampshire with my 9 year old son. I wrote, recorded, and toured in bands for a number of years and I still teach guitar. I am a qualified nutritionist, and yoga and Pilates instructor, and I have worked for many years in natural health. I practice sound therapy and regularly offer gong baths. I now practice and teach my own take on yoga. I have also worked as a healthy private chef. I studied BSc Management Sciences and Psychology at the University of Southampton with a focus on well-being in organisations, going on to gain a level 7 diploma in coaching and mentoring (IAPCM). I draw on the experience of working with young people privately and in schools since 2001.”
